There’s something comforting about gentle giants. Animals like elephants and horses carry immense strength, but they're also known to be some of the most peaceful animals there are. There's something about this contrast that makes them oh so special. They could be intimidating, but instead they often radiate calmness, emotional depth, and quiet affection. Both are animals that have been used for riding, but it doesn't always mean that's okay. Horses are used for riding in many ways, and it doesn't affect them as much as elephants. Though elephants look huge and like they could easily handle the weight of a small human, it's actually really bad for their health and their backs to have people ride them.

Horses carry a different kind of gentleness. There’s a quiet elegance to them; the shape of their bodies, the way they run, the way they lower their heads toward someone they trust, the calm steadiness of their presence. Horses seem intune with emotion, even ours. People often describe being around them as grounding, almost therapeutic, because they respond so intuitively to energy and mood. But horses also have their goofy side. They make ridiculous faces, get startled by random objects, and sometimes behave with the exact dramatic energy of an overworked theater kid. One second they look majestic enough to belong in a painting, and the next they’re making a face because someone dared to move a bucket three inches to the left.
